Calculate your birth chart online — free

A birth chart is built from three things: the date, the exact time and the place you were born. Enter them below and you will see which signs and houses your planets fall in, what your ascendant is, and what the chart wheel itself looks like. Right after the calculation you can open a short reading of your own chart — free as well. There is no account, no password and nothing to confirm; we ask only for an email address, so the calculation can be sent to you and does not disappear with the browser tab.

Tap the field and a calendar opens.

The calculation appears right here, below the form, and we email you a copy. Your reading opens from the button beneath it. We keep only your address — no account, no password.

The button unlocks as soon as the address looks like an address.

What a chart calculation needs

A chart is the position of the planets at one moment, seen from one point on Earth. That is why three things are needed, and each of them does its own job.

What you get after the calculation

Now the honest part about limits. The short reading is built on the few most striking configurations in your chart — enough to recognise yourself in, and not enough to call it a full reading. A whole chart also has houses, rulers, smaller aspects and the links between them, and we are not going to pretend a few paragraphs stand in for all of that. And if you did not give an exact birth time, neither the ascendant nor the houses will appear — not in the table and not in the text. Without the time they would be a guess dressed up as a measurement.

How accurate this calculation is

Most free calculators take an off-the-shelf library and print whatever it returns. We measured what it actually returns, and fixed three things.

The calculation you see on the page runs in your own browser. Your date, time and place of birth go to the server twice, and both times because you asked: to compose the email we promised, and to write the short reading you request with a button. In both cases the chart is recalculated by the same code, so the numbers in the email, in the text and on your screen agree down to a fraction of an arcsecond. Neither the chart nor your birth details are stored anywhere — the email address is all that stays with us. The city name goes to the server separately: without it there is no way to look up the coordinates and the time zone in the settlement directory.

FAQ

Is the birth chart calculation really free?

Yes. The chart is calculated in your own browser and costs nothing. The short reading under it is free as well. There is no account, no password and nothing to confirm — we ask only for an email address, and we send that same calculation there. What is paid for is a different product: the full written reading of the chart, and it is offered separately.

How is the short reading different from a sun-sign horoscope?

A sun-sign horoscope is written for one twelfth of humanity. The reading here is written for the actual positions in your chart: the signs and aspects of your planets, the phase of the Moon, and — if the birth time is known — the houses as well. That is why two women born under the same sign get different texts. It is short by design: a few paragraphs on what stands out most, not a full reading of the chart.

Why ask for an email address if the calculation is free?

To send you a copy of the calculation. The calculation itself appears here straight away, the reading opens on a separate page when you press the button under it, and the email stays with you once the tab is closed. The address is the only thing we keep: your date, time and city travel to our server so the email and the text can be written, the chart is recalculated there, and neither the chart nor the birth details are recorded anywhere. No account, no password, no confirmation link.

What if I do not know my exact birth time?

You can pick a rough part of the day, or leave the time out entirely. Then we show the planets by sign, but we will not show the ascendant or the houses: without a time they are not trustworthy. That is more honest than quietly filling in noon and presenting a guess as a fact.

How precise is the calculation?

The planets are calculated with the correction for the difference between ephemeris and universal time, and the house cusps with our own implementation of the Placidus system, accurate to a fraction of an arcsecond. The time zone comes from the city's entry in a settlement directory rather than being derived from coordinates — which matters for places near a border.

Does the city have to be the one where I was born?

Yes. The coordinates decide the houses and the ascendant, and the city's time zone decides the exact moment the chart is built for. The city you live in now would give you a different chart.
